Vrreeb - ‘Orange’

Hypnotic reverb pop from London’s Vrreeb.

'Orange' comes from the new debut EP 'Those Days Forever'. 1 of 3 hazey shoegazey tracks which are all soaked through with reverb, which probably suggests why the duo have used an anagram of the word for their name. Great stuff.

Sight Seeing - ‘Crushed’

Brooklyn’s dreamy fuzzsters Sight Seeing are back from a 2 year hiatus with a great new demo called ‘Crushed’.

It’s pretty much the first sunny day this year here in England and what better way to celebrate than spinning this awesome breezy pop corker.

The Boys Age - ‘Painful Twilight Pt.3’

'Painful Twilight Pt. 3' is taken from Saitama DIYer The Boys Age's latest full length 'F A K E G O L D'.

The name fits the track perfectly, it’s perfect to put on after a shit day at work, chilled and a little bit hypnotising. Duvet vibe.

Hot Glass - ‘I Wouldn’t Forget EP’

Since dropping debut track ‘I Wouldn’t Forget’ many months ago, Hot Glass has been firmly on the Fuzzbook radar.

I was left longing for more from the Brighton shoegazer, and alas an EP has now arrived. All 5 tracks on the ‘I Wouldn’t Forget EP’ (available on tape) are wonderfully woozy and reek of exceptionally crafted 90’s inspired shoegaze. This is a great headphone EP, perfect for blocking out the rush when walking to work.

Tashaki Miyaki - ‘Keep Me in Mind’

We’ve talked about Tashaki Miyaki numerous times before, they are definitely official Fuzzbook favourites, so not much needs to be said again except for the fact they have just re-released their S/T EP, this time on tape via fellow Fuzzbook favs Burger Records. Match made in heaven! Check out ‘Keep Me in Mind’ from the tape below.

The S/T cassette is limited to 250 copies. Get it from BURGER now.

Braves - ‘Hallows’

'Hallows' is the closing track from new EP ' Sorrow' by Braves.

Braves are a perth-based surf-pop trio, and regular Fuzzbook readers will know Sean from the bands side-project Sunny.

'Hallows' is a great summertime shoegaze number, but the EP is packed with fuzz and dream pop too. Download 'Sorrow' for free (or pay what you want) from BANDCAMP now.

Dead Horse One - ‘Alive’

New Shoegaze from France. Track taken from their new EP ‘Heavenly Choir of Jet Engines’. Get the EP for free now from BANDCAMP.

Gorgeous Bully - ‘Bear in Chains’

image

In Fuzzbook’s (largely irrelevant) opinion there are few bands out there that have the potential to make big soon as Gorgeous Bully.

The now-Manchester based fuzzsters have moved out of the home studio with new track ‘Bear In Chains’ showcasing a heavier sound, nodding their cap to early BRMC. It’s a true delight. Fuzz-fingers are crossed that Gorgeous Bully will be heading down south for a live show soon.

No. 5 comes from Sheffield’s favourite surf-poppers Best Friends. It’s not no.1 in this list but it would definitely be no.1 in catchiest EP’s of the year, every song is guaranteed whistler. ‘Throwing Up’ was a true soundtrack to the summer of 2012.

South Carolina’s Elvis Depressedly makes it to no.4 with DIY full length ‘Mickey’s Dead’. This is an album that is filled with amazing and slightly twisted lyrics crafted in to beautiful laidback tracks prefect for rainy days, long bus rides or long bus rides in the rain.

Possibly the coolest band in the world right now, Allah Las, hit no.3. The self-titled debut from these throwback westcoasters was probably the most anticipated album of the year here at Fuzzbook after hearing ‘Catamaran’ and ‘Tell Me What’s On Your Mind’ early in the year, it was just a shame there was a wait till the Winter to get it because it would have made great summer car/beach/boat/bike music.

Long live DIY. The no.2 spot goes to the South-west’s (now Manchester’s) Gorgeous Bully. ‘The Young Obese’ is a perfect example of the type of great fuzz that is being made is garages and bedrooms across the UK these days. It’s oozing with attitude, spunk, pizazz and other words to that affect. Gorgeous Bully must have an eye or 2 kept on them 2013. This was the EP that put Art is Hard on our map, and we haven’t looked back since.

Fuzzbook’s no.1 release of 2012 goes to the debut self-titled pop masterclass from California’s Summer Twins. As you can tell from the top 25, Fuzzbook <3’s the Californian sound and few can do it quite like Summer Twins. When this album was released in January, I wrote that I hoped it’s appeal lasted till the summer, well it’s now December and it’s still a staple in the player and will be for a while.

Sweet Valley Slumber Party - ‘When Love Dies’

'When Love Dies' is more woozy dreamboat shoegaze from California's Sweet Valley Slumber Party.

Our attention was first drawn to these guys after the release of single ‘Virgins’ a few months ago, now as promised, the full length of the same name has dropped. We can’t help but think the spacey lo-fi sounds on ‘Virgins’ would be the perfect soundtrack for a night under the stars, unfortunately it’s bloody freezing outside at the moment so we can’t test that out. The good news is that it sounds amazing inside too.

You can download ‘Virgins now on SVSP’s BANDCAMP or buy the tape from LOLLIPOP RECORDS.

The Sea Life - ‘Body Language Pt.2’

'Body Language pt.2' is lifted from DC Dream-pop fivesome The Sea Life's debut full-length 'In Basements'.

What better way to start the week than with a bit of hazy, shoegazey guitar-based dream-pop? With catchy and polished tracks like this, surely The Sea Life are the most important thing happening in DC this week.

Download the whole album from BANDCAMP now. It’s pay what you want as well, which is nice of them.
