i loved the first la sera LP, but sees the light is in a totally different league. i’ve only listened to it through once, but i am sure this is my favorite track. the ooh’s are TOO dreamy and the wurlitzer throughout the song is perfect. a lot of bands struggle to write songs that are both 4+ minutes long and not overly repetitive, and given this project’s track record of rarely breaking the 2 1/2 minute mark, this song is an impressive feat.
Gorgeous Bully - 'You Can't Fight the Sickness with Tea and Biscuits'
We couldn’t believe our luck when we saw Plymouth’s Gorgeous Bully was releasing another EP so soon after ‘The Young Obese’ then we heard it and we couldn’t believe our luck again, because it’s even better.
'You Cant Fight the Sickness with Tea and Biscuits' is a beautiful mess of DIY fuzz of the first degree, we absolutely love it.
To top it off, you can name your price for it on their bandcamp page. Make sure you give something though, it’s definitely deserved.
San Francisco seems to be shitting out good bands at the moment doesn’t it?, well, here is another.
Evil Eyes provide some classic Californian daydream pop to be proud of on their recently released self-titled debut EP. ‘Burying Our Love’ is our pick of the bunch, whispy and wonderful, its well worth a listen or two or three.
The EP can be downloaded for free from their bandcamp page
Emergency Bible Study - 'Robert Zimmerman Practicing Guitar in Front of the Mirror'
Oi you, here’s a great new pix n mix of clips vid from Atlantic City’s Emergency Bible Study.’Robert Zimmerman Practicing Guitar in Front of the Mirror’ is the lead single from their debut album.
We did mention it before, (don’t think it was downloadable back then though) but ’Album 1’ is available (for free download) from the band’s bandcamp page. Our particular favourite is ‘Kid Atlantic City’ its top banana.
Some songs sound so much better when they are recorded cheaply, in fact at Fuzzbook the cheaper it is, the more we love it.
'Trudy Be True' by Oxford's Beta Blocker and the Body Clock is definitely one of those songs, it is beautifully fuzzy, and we think it might be one of the best DIY tracks we have heard for a while (mucho thankso to Sound Injections for this one)
You can download the whole 4 track EP at the bands bandcamp page. TiVo is another particularly good song.
'Take It' is the new single from Delaware Dork-Poppers The Spinto Band.
The single comes from the band’s upcoming album ‘Shy Persuit’ which is set to be released by their own label Spintonic Records on May 1st or as we say in England (Everyone might say it, but I don’t know) May Day.
If this takes your fancy you can also download another track from the album here which seems like a good deal to us!
Congratulations you have got through the week! Here’s a bit of sun-drenched garage pop to celebrate.
It’s ‘Family Band’ the latest single from Australia’s Wild Oats. Its probably sunny in Australia now isn’t it? (bastards) anyway if you are in wet England just put it on and pretend your down under (watching Home and Away and drinking a Fosters)
Oh yeah and more good news, you can download the song straight from Soundcloud below.
